Who fell off the wagon??

 I did!!
Things got so hectic with Thanksgiving and school that I haven't been able to practice much. I've been squeezing in yoga and drills here and there, but nothing to really write about.
Now that I'll have a few weeks off (starting next week), I've been thinking about what I would like to accomplish during that time. I need to start going back to the gym, so I ordered a book called "The Stuntwoman's Workout" that should be arriving this week. I'm hoping it'll have lots of fun things to help get me back in shape.
I also think I'm going to try to practice 4 hours a day or so, but I'll be breaking it up into chunks. So, in the morning I'll do yoga for an hour or so followed by an hour of drills. Later on, I'll work on combos, special technique, and choreo for another couple of hours, then do lots of stretching. We'll see how well this works out.
Also- I started doing Hatha yoga again. Omg, I hate doing it, but I looove how I feel afterwards. I feel nice and ssstttrrreeeetttccchhheeddd and STRONG. I'll be doing that much, much more frequently. One thing I really want to get down is plank undulations, since my arms are all scrawny and weak.

Crikey, I wish finals were over!!!

Ending yoga

Total time: ~ 2 hrs

I learned 2 very important lessons today:
1. don't try to do to much in one practice!! I had made a list of a million things I wanted to do, got overwhelmed, and didn't want to practice. SO I threw that out and just kinda made it up as I went along. I think I will try to do that from now on and not feel like I need to drill every little thing.
2. I'm just not that into Suhaila technique. I think it's brilliant and love the theory behind it, but I just don't get that excited about practicing it. I think I'm going to hold off on it for awhile.

Notes:
pushwalk needs work, esp when adding arms & hips (my posture gets weird)
lean over more during one arm up one arm down

Day 1

 Practice for today:
Modern dance for warmup
Conditioning stuffz
Daily drills with zills alternating half time
arms- cycles + drilled SH rolls & undulations for 5 min
one hip circle and figure 8- drilled for 5 min
Special drill- working on ups, so do 100, 30 one foot releve, 30 passe, 30 both feet releve, plie down 4x
half/full time/turn combo with ups- forward, backward, one foot releve, both releve
all done DBR
Slow Patterns:
Mardi arm pattern
shoulder cap, roll down, maya one side, roll up- like to roll down into a maya & maya into a roll up, but not really together. Don't really like the shoulder cap either
New thing for Bird Girl choreo: for plie w/ pull hands apart, pull R arm straightish to frame head, push L arm straight out to side; can finish w/ arm undulation or something

Worked on Bird Girl, ~1 min finished

argh

I'm sitting in class right now and there's this one dumbass who always has to open her mouth and spill forth the vomit that is her opinion. Everything she says is stupid, and I had to vent somewhere or else I might start yelling at her.

As for dance- my L calf is super, super sore. I think it's because I tend to keep my weight on my R leg, so when I actually work out the L one, it can't handle it. I also wrote down all the gym classes I want to go to; the first one is yoga tomorrow morning. Ugh, and I have to do some cardio. And maybe weights. Lame.

Notes on Practice

I think I figured out how to structure mah practices:

Warmup with modern dance DVD
Conditioning: mishmash of various Suhaila stuff (squats, glutes, crunches, chestwork, undulations, calf raises, shoulder stuff, etc)
Daily Drills: consists of singles, twists, pelvic locks, interior squares and circles, figure 8s
That takes a little over 1.5 hours (hopefully it'll be less once I get it down and stop dicking around all the time)
Then I pick some special stuff to drill- ideally, it'll include stuff from the Level 2 manual, which I am ssllooowwlllyy working thru. So pick a Suhaila drill, drill it for 10 min or so, then pick another move or two to work on (arms, one hipwork, chest 8s, layering, etc). That should bring me to about 2 hours, maybe a little more.
Then drill 3-4 combos and string them together and drill that. I want to go back thru my list of Mardi combos because I've forgotten a lot. I also want to create my own to use for improv.
Then work on choreography. I worked on the Bird Girl Choreo a little today, and I want to create some arms patterns to throw in it somewhere.
Oh wait, I forgot isolation patterns. Those need to be practiced, too.

In addition to all that, I want to work with the vinyoga DVDs, especially upper back. Plus the gym. Plus regular dance classes and yoga & pilates classes. Which reminds me, I need to look up the gym class schedule.

So, my short term goals are:
finish Bird Girl
Be able to do singles full time consistently
review Mardi combos
liquid backwalk, one hip circle, and one hip 8 (all of which are in bird girl, so they need to be good)
build up calf strength
roll around on mah tennis balls (calves & IT band)

Also: even though I have had classes/practice the past 3 days, I'm not starting Day 1 until Friday (Thursday is usually my off day)

Sooo......

I've been having a hard time getting myself to practice lately, so I'm hoping this will help. I signed up for MJ's 90 in 90 last week and haven't really done anything. SO I guess that means I should start tomorrow. yyyyeeeeaaaaa
